As the Autumn sun sets it brings a wave of feelings that can only be appreciated by those that have experienced the light of long shadows, the feeling of old and new at the same time and for me the desire to remain outdoors as long as possible.
The summer has ended, the autumn begins and with it comes colder nights and cooler breezes here on the ocean.
When the wind blows and the water reacts, you can hear it bounce along the shore sometimes clanging the lines of a sailboat or banging against the rocks. But this is not about the sound of water. This is about the change in light whether on board the boat or gathered by the fire on the deck. I don't want to go inside to make dinner! I can make it outside here in this fabulous light.
I thank Jamie Oliver for this moment we created as he inspires me with simple and fresh and makes wonderful meals by the flame of an open fire. Now I didn't use the fire to cook. I simply made a luscious Caprese salad and I did it with our own garden fresh tomatoes and basil. We could have been in Italy!
This was the perfect activity to celebrate the equinox and I'm happy we have this in our memory bank. It was one of those lovely evenings I will remember for some time.
