Age and the Concept of Time

Time can make you feel like you have no control as you age.

Here are some ways to stay positive and live life to the fullest.

Are you frantic as you watch time slip away? Are you obsessed with how quickly you seem to be aging?
If you take care of your physical body but you keep telling yourself you’re getting old, the mind will overpower your body’s ability to feel young. Here are some ways to shift your mindset about aging and time so you feel energized and vibrant.

1: Look ahead 10 to 20 years.
Whatever age you are right now, look to the future and imagine yourself looking back to the present day. What message do you have for yourself that will help you live life to the fullest right now?
Will you wish you would have realized your potential? Will you wonder why you let something hold you back?

2: Say “Yes” more often.
Have you noticed that the more you have to do, the more organized you become? If you tell yourself you don’t have time for this or that, you’ll find you don’t have time for anything.
When you say yes to things you want to do and let go of the things you don’t, you’ll find you enjoy your time more and it doesn’t feel like you’ve wasted time. You feel good because you spent your time doing what you want.

3 Embrace Change.
The energy of the world is expanding outward with constant change. Resistance can bring frustration and it takes a flexible outlook to adapt and get into the flow of new things. Prepare yourself before attempting something new by telling yourself “I got this – I can do it” instead of “I hate this.”

4: Design your Schedule to your Body Rhythms
Everyone has unique body rhythms with specific times that are better for exercise, eating, work and play. The key is to listen to your body and schedule your day based on the rhythms you find yourself going through in the stages of life as you change season to season. Are you in the flow with your rhythm or ignoring it?

5: Change your Sleep Patterns.
If you’re not getting the sleep you need, try something new. Either go to bed earlier or take naps when appropriate and stop feeling guilty for doing it. Many people are affected by the schedule of others in the household and are concerned only for their needs. Tune into what is right for you and stop trying to please others by sacrificing your needs.

The key to feeling energized and vibrant as you age is to have a positive attitude when doing something new. You change patterns in your brain and your body when you do new things and when you celebrate your accomplishments without frustration and negative talk, you create a feeling of youthful vigour. It happens naturally when you’re in the the flow of looking after yourself in the energy of expansive change.
